The two of them met for the first time at a New Years Eve Christian event that Andy was cooking for. Kat helped with the washing up. This however was news to Andy as he has no recollection of that being Kat (he remembers someone washing up!)

The next time they met was at Easter People a conference which that year was in Scarborough. She does not however remember Andy from that week.

It was one year on that the two finally started to create a friendship again at Easter People but this time in Blackpool. She was his line manager in the youth venue and they worked closely together welcoming the guests and speakers each day. They sat and talked about the news that was in the paper each day and ate chocolate waiting for guests to turn up (while most other people were running around Blackpool). They also went and got a cup of tea each morning together (mainly to get Kat out of the venue and have a break). The friendship blossomed and by the end of the week Andy knew he must say something. The last tea of the week was strange. Andy said ‘so what’s going on then?’ indicating that there might be something. Kat said she didn’t know (she is no good at making decisions). They planned to take it easy to start with as they lived 200miles away at either side of the country.

Over the next few months they spoke lots on the phone and visited each other as much as they could.

Fast forward 1 year 6 months and Andy got down on one knee after dancing to Frank Sinatra and asked Kathryn to marry him. Luckily for him she said yes and the wedding plans started to take shape.
